Seating plans; that dreaded word!
Here is the Efficient Bride Survival Guide, for one of the most stressful parts of your wedding planning.
This may be one of the most unexpected challenges of your wedding planning journey.
Where to seat everyone?
No matter what, please be rest assured that every single wedding planning couple has to navigate tricky family & friend politics.
It’s totally normal.
Here is some advice about how best to approach it:
Give yourself plenty of time to do this task. Ideally a couple of months before the deadline so you can do it as stress-free as possible. For any number of reasons, you will find yourself updating them regularly, to facilitate the latest political situation that may arise.
To begin, speak to your venue & ask them to share some sample table plans so you can get a good idea about table layout & size.
From there, group your guest list into groups such as ‘brides friends’, ‘grooms friends’, ‘ work friends’ etc. Once you have grouped every single invited guest, then you can start to consider how those groups fit naturally into the venue's table plans. Look at ways to mix groups together so you know similar personalities might mingle well.
Top Tip: If you find that you have a situation with 2 people who don't get along, but they are in the same grouping, seat them on a long table at each end. Easy!
Draw it out electronically if you can, I recommend using a tool such as Excel or Google Sheets.
The main takeaway for you is to not rush this task, & start as early as possible.
You can do this.
